Orkut, Google Social networking site, was developed and named after by Orkut Büyükkökten. Orkut in 2004 was visited mostly by Americans. But in 2008 Brazilians and indians visit orkut mostly.
After the launching of google+ and other social networking sites, orkut traffic was greatly disturbed and due to this google is discontinuing it. Google announce discontinuing orkut on June 20, 2014. Today, i receive an email from google that they are saying goodbye to orkut and users will not be able to use orkut after September 30,2014. Here is the screenshot of google email.

This is not first time that google is discontinuing one of their services.
Google has also introduced Google takeout for orkut users to import their data to another social networking site.
